Frequently asked questions

The short answers to what visitors ask us most, with the numbers included. Still unsure? Message us and a real person will help.

How and when do I pay?

You pay on delivery, when we hand over the keys, in cash or by card. There is nothing to pay online, no prepayment and no credit card needed. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Do I really not need a credit card?

Really. We do not ask for a credit card to book or to collect the car. Book with a message, pay on delivery in cash or by card, and that is it.

How much does it cost to hire a car in Malta?

Our rates start at €16 per day in low season for the smallest group, and every seasonal rate is published on the fleet page. Unlimited km, comprehensive insurance, a free extra driver and delivery are already in the price. There are no hidden costs.

What insurance is included, and what is the excess?

Every hire includes full comprehensive insurance. The excess (the most you would pay if the car is damaged) is €120. For drivers under 25 or over 71 the excess is €350. That is the whole story: no pressure at handover to buy extra cover.

Where do you deliver, and what does it cost?

We deliver and collect anywhere in Malta: Malta International Airport, hotels, apartments and villas. Delivery and collection are free, and we work to your arrival time, not office hours.

Can I take the car to Gozo?

Yes. Drive the car onto the Gozo ferry at Ċirkewwa for the crossing to Mġarr, and you only pay the ferry fare on the way back. Nothing extra to arrange with us.

What licence do I need to drive in Malta?

A full, valid driving licence. EU licences are accepted as they are, and most visitors from outside the EU can drive on their national licence together with an International Driving Permit if theirs is not in English. Every driver must be named on the agreement, and extra drivers are free.

I am under 25 (or over 71). Can I hire?

Yes, you are welcome. Drivers under 25 and over 71 carry the higher insurance excess of €350 instead of €120; the daily rate itself does not change.

Do you have baby seats or GPS?

Yes, both, for a small charge. Tell us the age of your child when you book and we fit the right seat before we deliver. A GPS unit can be added the same way, though most visitors are happy with their phone.

What is driving in Malta like?

Malta drives on the left, distances are short and speed limits are low: 50 km/h in towns and 80 km/h on open roads. Roads are busy around Sliema and St Julian’s but easy elsewhere, and unlimited km means you can explore freely. Our driving guide covers parking, the Gozo ferry and the rest.

What if my plans change?

Tell us as soon as you can and we will adjust the dates or cancel. You have not paid anything in advance, so there is nothing to claw back.
