Automatic transmission
Automatic car hire in Malta
Two pedals, no hill-start nerves, no gear changes in left-hand traffic. Automatics available in several fleet groups, delivered free wherever you are staying.
If you have not driven a manual in years, Malta is not the place to re-learn. The island packs roundabouts, sharp ramps, blind village corners and long stop-start queues into a very small space, and it does it all on the left-hand side of the road. An automatic quietly removes the hardest third of that workload.
We keep automatic cars across several of our fleet groups, from small city hatchbacks to roomier options. The rest of the offer does not change: the price on the page is the real price, unlimited km and full comprehensive insurance are included, delivery to your hotel or the airport is free, and you pay on delivery with no credit card needed.
Automatics are our most requested cars between June and September, so if your dates are fixed, ask early. Send your dates in a quick quote request, write "automatic" in the request, and we will come back with the exact model and price, usually within the hour.
Good to know
Why visitors choose automatic here
-
Built for Malta’s traffic
Malta driving is stop-start: roundabouts, village squares, sudden pedestrian crossings, and the slow crawl into Sliema at six. An automatic turns all of that into pressing one pedal gently.
-
Kind on the hills
The island is steeper than the postcards suggest. Mellieħa, Mdina’s approach and half the village cores involve hill starts. With an automatic there is no clutch-and-handbrake dance while a bus waits behind you.
-
Left-hand traffic, minus one task
If you normally drive on the right, Malta already asks you to flip your instincts. Taking gear changes off the list means you can give the road your full attention. Most visitors from the US and mainland Europe choose automatic for exactly this reason.

Say "automatic" when you book
We run automatics in several groups, and they are the first cars to go in summer. Mention it in your quote request and we will confirm the exact automatic model with your price.
